Cupcraft Game Simulation Prototype

Cupraft initial level design

Desert

This is a shot that shows how most of the biomes merge into each other. We have the evergreen plains biome on the left, The Sand dunes Sahara in the middle and on the right, the colourful Mesa rich with iron deposits.

Overview of Level design

This image depicts the whole map to show the scale and choices that the player can immerse themselves in. Please ignore the very intimidating giant frog he's harmless I think.

Custom Planes

Subheading

These are my stylised birch trees. This screenshot shows the custom Collison shaped plane, used as both the geometry and to act as a Collison box, within Unreal Engine.

Modular asset design

Here I have some modular landscape pieces. At first the initial Idea was that I wanted to design an endless 3D side-scroller game inspired the mobile game Fallout Shelter, In which they have 2D characters on a 3D background. However this changed throughout development.

When creating each piece from the initial primitive cube, I kept in mind one thing. That each piece should fit together like Lego. As the idea developed further I decided to lose the blocky look how every thing should be a cube.

Cross Planes

Emissive 2D materials. Most of the objects on the map of this game prototype. Are made of the same component. A cross shape plane. This was inspired by Minecraft's flower. Which I adapted the idea and made a range of different sized cross planes. This Blue glowing mushroom is just one of many assets that share the same cross plane.

Biomes

Ice terrain

Cupcraft has a diverse verity of biomes, From the Icy skirts of winter mountains to the blistering heat of the sand dune deserts.
